Is the perspiration when sleeping an alarm for a diseases?

   Many medications can cause "night sweats", including antibiotics and antidepressants. Try to keep away from the caffeine, including teas, and spicy foods late in the evening, drink water. Spicy hot foods and drinks will increase night sweats.

   Night sweats can be caused by many things, other than, or in conjunction with medications. i.e., Peri menopause, liver dysfunction, heavy congestion’s, heart and lung congestion, etc.. So you really need to discuss the possibilities with your doctor before self medicating.

   There are many things you can take to try and ease the night sweats, but, again, you should talk with your doctor before adding anything to your current medication, as some things, even natural meds, can counter-act medicines. Even milk and other dairy products should not be consumed with certain anti-biotics.

   Try sleeping in pure cotton, turn down your heat, use lighter weight blankets, place cool, damp towel around the most effected area. You mentioned it is your chest area, so try using a warm wet towel with Vicks Vapo Rub on it, to help break up congestion. Don’t sleep on your back, if you can help it. Extra Strength Estrovene really helps allot and is safe with anti-biotics. Primrose oil, and yam creams also help lighten the effects of night sweats. Primerose oil comes in pill form, at any nutrition store. Yam creams are topical use and placed on the inside of the wrists, (where you would check for a pulse)

   Try googleing Menopause and you’ll find tons of over the counter and natural aides for helping to lessen the effects of night sweats.

   If I take certain meds then I get night sweats - I think it’s my body trying to cope with the drugs. Keep an eye on it and mention it to your doc.

   Try sleeping on a towel, by the way!
